Hansi Chisnall
Hansi has many years experience of working in a supportive capacity for NGO’s with young people, adults and families from marginalised backgrounds, including working with children in foster care, and those coming from a background of addiction/recovery and related traumas. Hansi has used counselling skills and positive relationship building as a key aspect over many parts of her professional and voluntary work for over 10 years before entering into the counselling profession. She has been formally counselling in the community since 2017 and joined Haven in 2019.
Hansi practices integrative counselling, primarily from a person-centred approach and using various models such as CBT, Motivational Interviewing, ACT or other creative and collaborative approaches that suit the needs and style of each client and where they are at. She always aims to provide a safe, non-judgmental and warm space in which a positive therapeutic relationship can be formed and built upon. Feeling heard, understood and safe to explore and voice needs, as well as finding the best tools for someone to become unstuck, move forward or just feel supported is so important to Hansi. She is comfortable and experienced in therapeutically working with a range of issues, particularly addiction/recovery, as well as sexual violence, loss, suicide, anxiety, family dynamics/boundaries, relationships, fostering, HIV/AIDS and struggles with identity or self esteem.
